Be Yourself

January 17, 2008

Throughout my journey on this making $ online business, doubts about my ability and what I have to offer in the online business keep springing to mind. Just this morning, I wonder whether joining as Silver Member of the IMC was a right move, wouldn’t it be better for me to just focus on my 9-5 work and just live the way I am currently living. Basically to remain in my comfort zone.

Don’t get me wrong, I love my life as I believe in the simplicity concept. I get joy out of a good cup of brewed coffee, a great book that can transport me to another world and a great show on TV can easily entertain me. I am an easy to be contented person because I realize that I am so much better off than many others in the world.

Yet, if one of my wish or rather goal (stronger word there) is to make my own income and eventually work for myself, I need to change my way of thinking and that I know takes time and is a never-ending process. It is very important that you keep your eye on the goal and remain on a one track mind. The ‘what-ifs’ will pop up and you just need to push the negativity aside and keep believing in your capabilities.

Everyone has something to share and offer that is of value to at least someone out there. But you must remember to not operate on a Pollyanna mode either, and must call a spade a spade. Read The Dip by Seth Godin for some insights on quitting. But I don’t intend to quit yet as I have just begun :-)

It is very easy to suffer from information overload when you start on any online business as there are plenty of information out there. Just keep your focus, find a mentor(s) and take tiny steps to start something online. It is very true that if you just keep on reading and digesting information, and never get moving, you will still be where you are at now which is not where you want to be.

Be yourself and trust in your own abilities. There is this famous quote: “Courage is not the absence of fear, but the capacity to act despite our fears”.

Lessons I should heed myself.

My first blogging lesson

January 8, 2008

I learned my first blogging lesson today, that is to save all your posts in a file as posts can somehow miraculously disappear.  I posted a post about information overload while at work and when I came home to do some blog housekeeping, found the post was missing and only the title was in place.

Uggh! I hope I might have a copy saved back on my office laptop, take note of the word hope.  I can’t remember all that was in the post but it was a good post, in my opinion. The post was short but easy to read and was motivating.

Well, life goes on and this serves as a lesson that I will always remember.

2008 Goals

January 1, 2008

Hope everyone had a splendid New Year Eve.  My better half and I went for a set dinner at Tony Roma’s and later, watched fireworks display at Sunway Pyramid, a shopping center and theme park.

I have thought through my goals for 2008 and ta-da, here they are:

1. Earn extra income of RM500 per month from online ventures

2. Purchase my first property: I have identified the area and potential housing projects. I also know my budget ;-)

3. To argue less with my better half and be more understanding towards his needs.

4. To smile more and frown less.

5. To have a heart of gratitude

6. To perform above expectations in my work.

I am very easy to please aren’t I?

Cheers to 2008!

Assasination of Benazir Bhutto and me

December 28, 2007

What a tragedy that Benazir has been killed after she was in exile for 8 years. Initially, I thought that she died because of her quest for ‘power’ but a colleague of mine mentioned we should give her credit for wanting to make a change for her fellow countrymen.

Her death has prompted me to ‘just do’ the things that I want to do rather than ponder and wonder. Life is really short and you never know what will happen next, cliché I know, but most cliches are very true.

Hence, I have registered my own domain: www.kendra-lee.com and it would be my main portal and gateway to making moneyonline.

The only issue is, I have yet to establish what I want to do.

Follow through

December 26, 2007

The problem with me is that I tend to get excited over a new project or venture but I do not have proper follow through. Maybe it’s the holiday season, my brain is not fully functioning ;-) . I will work on my online money making quest after the holidays, after 2 January 2008. The first step I need to take is create my own website and sign up with a web hosting service.

Genesis

December 19, 2007

So here it goes, I want to be financially shackles free…..I have been a subscriber of Martin Avis’ Kickstart Daily ezine for the past 4 years. Through him, I have learned that it is possible to earn money online as long as you have a real passion for it and is serious about its possibilities. I did start my own website called www.infosponge.net circa 2003.  The purpose of the original website was to share as a newbie on what’s happening in my world of internet marketing, with doses of inspiration and a weekly ezine titled Cuppa of the week or something along that line. That was when I was residing in the UK on a 2 year working holiday visa. Suffice to say, nothing came out of that website, and it was neglected as I lacked focus and what I truly wanted to do.

Back to present moment and 4 years later, now back in my homeland Malaysia, I have decided to get back on the horse’s back and give myself a good one (1) year to build an online business presence.

To quote from Martin Avis’s recommendation on this book for internet newbies “Licensed to Quit”

One such book is ‘Licensed to Quit’ by Kickstart reader
and forum regular Tony Shepherd and his business
partner Sara Brown.
Man it’s good. I’ve had the book for a few days now,
but haven’t been allowed to tell you about it until
now.
Tony and Sara have been selling the book to their own
subscribers at a special discount before it goes live
on ClickBank. They have very generously offered to let
you have the same deal.
Believe me, it’s a steal. What is ‘Licensed to Quit’ about?Part one of the book talks about the importance of
having your own product to sell, how you can quickly
and easily get one without having to do very much work,
and how to create a system to get the maximum revenue
from your work – even if you give it away for free!
It is good, solid, tried and tested advice from a pair
of seasoned Internet marketers who only describe
systems and strategies that they have tested and proved
for themselves. There is absolutely no fluff and no
vague theory. This stuff works.
Part two of the book gets into the meat of the system
that Tony and Sara actually use to launch their own
products and create hundreds or thousands of dollars of
income – even without lists to market to. Once again,
it is real-life information that works.
Who is the book aimed at? Certainly newbies will find
it refreshingly easy to understand and apply. There
aren’t a whole lot of difficult concepts to learn, just
plain common sense. Advanced Internet marketers will
also get a lot out of ‘Licensed to Quit’ because it
teaches a fully-formed system that is easy to put into
action.
Action is, of course, the key to success. Action to
apply the things you learn and action to grasp the
nettle and decide that Internet marketing is the way
forward for you.

Incidentally, for all those many Kickstarters who
bought the excellent “20/20′ course from Michael Green
a few months ago, ‘Licensed to Quit’ is a perfect
companion because it gives you an alternative method of
promoting your products that doesn’t rely on finding JV
partners.

This is a limited time offer. The discount will only
apply until Tony and Sara put the book on ClickBank at
the full price, so if I were you, I’d bite their hands
off!

His review of the book has inspired me to take a look at the sales page for the book and at $27, is not too expensive for me after the obligatory currency conversion but by no way its cheap either (RM95) for a 52 page e-book. The straight-forward sales page persuaded me to take stock of my life, after all my 2008 goal is to purchase my first property.

Initially, I was thinking of using my bonus to buy a Braun Buffel leather bag, but I rather think this is a better way to spend my hard-earned money, to learn and apply something that can make me more money.

So, I have just downloaded the book last night after paying with my credit card via Pay Pal, and printed it out just today. I will update on this blog my path to get the license to quit my job.

I want and will it to happen.

Merry Christmas!
